TERMS & CONDITIONS
NOMINATIONS – HINTS AND TIPS
• Read the Conditions of Entry carefully.
• Read the Nomination Criteria carefully.
• Address each of the Nomination Criteria, using the criteria as headings in your submission.
• Support any statements you make with examples and demonstrated evidence.
• Highlight how your nomination stands apart from the rest.
• Check page limits – any information provided in excess of the page limit
will be disregarded and will not form part of your nomination.
• Make sure your company logo and any other media are attached to your submission
(see Conditions of Entry for specifications).
• Where necessary, attach copies of documents, such as certificates, to your submission.
Do not include originals as they will not be returned.
• Incomplete and/or late nominations may be accepted subject to prior agreement with the Skills Centre.
CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
Nominations
• Nominations close at 5:00 pm on Friday, 14 May 2010.
• Nominations are to be in writing or via our online subscription form, and are to comprise of the appropriate nomination form and response to the Nomination Criteria.
• Hardcopy nominations are to be either posted to:

• Nominations received by facsimile will not be accepted.
• Nominations for any of the Award categories can be made either by the nominee or on behalf of the nominee.
• If you submit a nomination for an individual or organisation other than yourself/own, you must ensure that the individual or organisation is made aware of the nomination.
• Nominations can be made at either a corporate or site level.
• A nominee can be nominated for an Award in more than one category. However, that nominee is only able receive one Award in one category.
• All nominees must be prepared to take part in a recorded interview or agree to a site visit where required. Phone interviews may also be conducted to shortlist nominees as finalists.
• Nominations will be judged by a panel based on criteria specific to each Award category.
Finalists
• There will be a maximum of three finalists for each Award category.
• Finalists will be notified in writing, and receive a formal invitation to attend this year’s Awards Dinner where the winners will be announced.
• Finalists will receive two complimentary passes to the 2010 Training Awards Dinner.
Where the finalist is a trainee, one of the complimentary passes is to be used by the trainee. The use of the second complimentary pass is discretionary.
• With their submissions, finalists can choose to provide appropriate video footage and/or images for use during the Awards ceremony and The 2010 Mining Industry Skills Centre Conference, which precedes the Awards. Video footage is to be of no more than two minutes in duration and supplied on disc. Finalists may also submit any relevant photos or media which assists in their presentation. Finally, finalists should provide a high-resolution version of their company logo for use in promotional material.
General
• By completing the nomination form, the nominee agrees to grant the Mining Industry Skills Centre Inc. the right to use non-confidential details from the nomination and any relevant photographs for any publicity purpose pertaining to the Awards and/or training within the industry, including promotion of future Awards.
• All photographs taken at the Awards ceremony will remain the property of the Mining Industry Skills Centre Inc.
• The Mining Industry Skills Centre Inc. is unable to return nomination submissions and will retain ownership of all nomination material.
JUDGING
• All judging will be carried out by a Judging Panel (‘Panel’).
• The Panel will comprise of industry professionals and stakeholders, and includes at least one member from the Mining Industry Skills Centre Inc.
• Wherever practicable, the Panel members shall have demonstrated independence from the nominee being judged.
• There will be two stages in the judging process:
Stage One - nomination submissions will be reviewed against the nomination criteria and a short list of finalists for each Award category will be selected to progress to the second stage. Phone interviews may be conducted with nominees to allow the Panel to progress to Stage Two of the process.
Stage Two – the finalists will be asked to provide the judges with further detail to clarify and support the information provided in their nomination submission, and to explain why they should be selected as the Award winner.
• Recorded interviews and/or site visits will be conducted during Stage Two of the judging process, to enable further information to be attained from finalists. Where possible, finalists will be asked to take part in a filmed interview. If this is not possible, finalists will be asked to take part in a recorded phone interview. Clips and sound bites from these interviews will be used during the Awards Ceremony.
• Award winners will be announced at the Training Awards Dinner in September 2010.
• The decision of the Panel is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
